NAIHC welcomes our new Director of Operations – Simone Auger

Simone Auger is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and has over 20 years of experience in public service and the nonprofit sector. Her diverse professional background equips her with an ability to lead cross-functional teams, implement strategic plans, and optimize processes while prioritizing the success of individuals to reach shared goals.

Her background in public service includes serving as a legislative staffer for two members of Congress in the U.S. House of Representatives. In those roles, she worked closely with tribal Nations and federal agencies on a broad portfolio of issue areas including tribal affairs, housing, natural resources and energy.

Prior to that, she served as a utility program professional for over 10 years where a key role included implementing energy efficiency programs to help tribal communities and organizations improve operations and build energy resilience. She has extensive experience in training and workforce development, project management and cost-benefit analysis.

Simone is passionate about inspiring others to achieve their true potential. She serves on the board of directors of Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI), a nonprofit credentialing body serving over 40,000 perioperative nurse professionals. Her contributions there include initiating a scholarship program to help Native American nurse professionals advance their careers. She also proudly serves on the Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) commission at her tribe.

Simone was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, is the loving mom of two adult children and a fitness enthusiast. She holds a master’s degree from University of Oregon and professional certificates from University of Arizona’s Native Nation’s Institute and Portland State University’s Tribal Relations program.
