Training Webinars on the Environmental Review Process
U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has created a series of training webinars on the environmental review process designed for Tribes. These training webinars were created based on feedback provided during Tribal consultation on developing a coordinated environmental review. This training series is one of the deliverables in the Plan to Implement Coordinated Environmental Reviews, which was issued by an interagency work-group in April, 2022. The Center for Indian Country Development (CICD) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis announces their Annual Indian Country Development Research Summit on December 1 – 2, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. CT. The virtual summit brings together tribal leaders, social science researchers, policymakers, and others to explore and discuss the latest policy-relevant research on key questions that matter for Indian Country. Native CDFI Network Announces Their 3rd Annual Policy and Capacity-Building Summit
The NCN Annual Summit will be a three-day conference featuring distinguished keynote speakers and skill-building workshops. Attendees will connect with one another to network, share successes and challenges, build collective voice, and uplift change strategies to advance economic justice across Indian Country. This event will be held at the National Indian Gaming Association Stanley Crooks Center from December 6-8, 2022.

FEMA Releases First Ever National Tribal Strategy
On August 19, 2022, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) released a national strategy to address its responsibilities when preparing for and responding to disasters on tribal lands. According to the strategy document, it reflects the feedback from 78 tribal nations gathered from a tribal consultation in 2022 and calls for FEMA to initiate a national study on tribal emergency management capacity and capabilities, expand communications and training with tribes, and develop tribal-specific technical assistance resources. Tribes are also eligible to apply for the FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant program that has a $50 million set aside.
