NAHASDA Modernization Advances to Senate Committee Markup and Vote

This is a meaningful and significant development for Indian Country. Just one week after the Committee held its September 16 oversight and legislative hearing examining housing needs in Native communities and receiving testimony on S. 5354, the Committee is moving forward with formal consideration of the legislation.

As we commemorate the 30th anniversary of NAHASDA, this business meeting represents another important step in the effort to reauthorize and modernize the law for the next generation. Committee consideration provides an opportunity for Senators to act on the legislation and determine whether it advances beyond the Committee.

NAIHC encourages Tribal housing leaders, advocates, partners, and friends of Indian Country who are in the Washington, D.C. area to attend the business meeting in person and demonstrate the broad support behind NAHASDA modernization.
