This training equips Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHEs), Tribal leaders, and housing staff with essential skills to conduct effective annual self-monitoring under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA) and HUD’s Office of Native American Programs (ONAP) guidelines. Participants learn to develop customized monitoring plans, review key areas, including financial management, procurement, admission/occupancy, internal controls, conflict of interest, and Indian preference, using ONAP sample questionnaires and best practices. The session emphasizes timely compliance, identifying/correcting issues early, preparing for audits and ONAP reviews, and reporting results in the Annual Performance Report (APR) to ensure program integrity and sustainable affordable housing delivery.
